THE CREATOR OF UKRAINIAN HEROES’ PANTHEON (IVAN KORSAK)

Abstract

The article is dedicated to highlighting the life path of the famous Ukrainian novelist Ivan Korsak. The article states that as a deputy of the Volhynia Regional Council, he did a lot for the development of Volhynian culture and book publishing in the region. Deputy I. Korsak helped to solve the financing problems of the «Science Center of Historical Studies of Volhynia», which was engaged in the all-Ukrainian scientific and documentary publications «Rehabilitated by History. Volhyn region» and «Book of Sorrows of Ukraine. Volhynian region». He knew how to speak politely even about the most difficult problems, always being tolerant towards the interlocutor. And nobility is his innate character. The magazines «Narodna Trybuna» and «Family and Home» edited by Ivan Korsak reflected the spirit of the times and were widely popular among the locals. However, at a certain time, he managed to find the strength to give up editing for bigger things, to write historical novels. His words are quoted in the article: «Editorship requires time and effort. I can't treat the case carelessly. I want to write books. I want to write many more of them. And the editorship does not allow it to be done in full force». In the article, the full text of the submission of the Volhynian regional organization of the All-Ukrainian society «Enlightenment» on awarding Ivan Korsak the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine is published for the first time. In this presentation, it was indicated that the works of I. Korsak found the favor of the reading public and high appreciation of masters of the word. The creativity of Ivan Korsak is duly appreciated. He is a laureate of the Vyacheslav Chornovol Prize, the Agatangel Krymsky Regional Literary and Art Prize, the Mykola Gogol International Literary Prize, the Hryhoriy Skovoroda International Prize, and the Dmytro Nytchenko International Prize. Ivan Korsak's works have been translated into Russian, Belarusian and Lithuanian.
